Favorite Trail
- Earl’s Trails in Hadley, MA. Fast and flowy.
·
Favorite Race
- Lots of good ones, but probably the Millstone Grind in Barre, VT. Technical and flowy. Very well organized.
·
Best Race Result
- 5th in Elite at EFTA’s 2012 Treasure Valley Rally, however I’m most proud of being able to race the Windham World Cup twice on Team USA.

Helmet
- Limar Ultralight. It really is significantly lighter than anything else.
·
Shoes
- Mavic Chasm
·
Other items you ride with
- Nuun electrolyte tablets
are awesome. Lots of great flavors. Perfect for those super hot days. The Big
Air from Genuine Innovations is always strapped to my seatpost, but I
hardly have to use it thanks to the awesome Stan’s NoTubes system.
Bike:
·
Frame/Size
Scott Scale 900 Premium –size XL
·
Fork
Fox Float CTD
Remote with 15mm– Nothing beats Fox.
·
Headset
Ritchey Pro tapered

·
Front Derailleur
Shimano XTR
·
Rear Derailleur
XTR with the clutch, which is…clutch. With I9 wheels, I get more drag in the rear hub. Before, if I backpedaled at high speeds, the chain would slacken and come off. No more dropped chains!

·
Shifters
Shimano XTR with KCNC clamp, which
allows for independent adjustment of the brakes and shifters.
·
Brakes
Shimano XTR Race. Shimano makes
the best brakes, period.
·
Crankset and gearing
Shimano XTR triple at the moment.
Will probably go to a double at some point.
·
Handlebar
Syncros FL1.0 cut down to 680mm.
Syncros FL1.0 cut down to 680mm.
·
Stem
Syncros FL1.0 100mm. Full carbon,
but super burly. I’ve run a 120mm stem for a while, but I want to go shorter to
help with cornering. Flipped and slammed either way.
·
Grips
ESI Chunky
·
Pedals
Shimano XTR. Fantastic pedals.
Durable and easy to get in and out of.
·
Saddle
My saddle is forever changing. But,
it is always mounted on a zero setback FSA aluminum post (not the stock 25mm
setback Syncros) to get the right position on the bike.
·
Hubs
Industry Nine XC hubs with I9 spokes. Instant engagement is always super awesome, but it is especially helpful for technical stuff.

Chain
Shimano Dyna-Sys for now.

Cassette and gearing
11-36 and 24-32-44, although I may go to a 39 or 38t double crank.

·
Rims
Four year old Stan’s 355s for now
(still holding their own, although quite dinged up). Soon to be replaced with
Crest rims. Stan’s rims are perfect. No burping, even at super low pressure.
·
Tires
Maxxis Ikon 2.2 with EXO. You will not find a tire with better flat resistance that weighs as little as this. And traction is excellent. 23 psi is good for me.

·
Total Bike Weight
Just below 22lbs with pedals and
